Finite element recovery techniques are widely use in industry and engineering practice since the 70'. In this talk, we discuss polynomial preserving recovery (PPR) in comparison with popular Zienkiewicz-Zhu superconvergent patch recovery (SPR). We emphasize superconvergence properties of PPR. On contrary with general belief that superconvergence can only occur with structured/uniform meshes, we demonstrate that PPR is superconvergent with meshes generated by adaptive procedures.
