On the Passage from atomic to continuum theory for thin films
Abstract: We give a rigorous derivation of continuum from atomic theory for thin films as proposed by Friesecke and James in [JMPS 48 (2000)]. As application we discuss examples of physical energy-functions that can be treated by this method. Finally we examine the properties of the continuum theory derived.
