Absorbing boundary conditions for nonliear pde's

Abstract: The absorbing boundary conditions is a method designed to approximate solutions of pde's on unbounded domains. We will briefly review well-known methods to obtain absorbing boundary conditions for linear pde's. We will then present 2 ways to extend these methods to nonliniear problems. Finally, we will present numerical experiments illustrating the efficiency of these methods in the case of the semiliniear wave equation and of nonlinear Schrodinger equations.
