Total variation, mean curvature flows, and an isoperimetric problem
Abstract:
Total variation has become one of the most popular regularizers
for image denoising and restoration, and
has also been used as a basis for an algorithm for mean curvature
motion.
We shall present this algorithm (originally due to A. Chambolle) and we
shall
explore its connection
with explicit solutions of the denoising problem, and with isoperimetric
problems.
We shall also relate it to a proof of convergence of the
Almgren-Taylor-Wang
scheme
for crystalline mean curvature evolution of convex sets.
