Approximation of anisotropic heterogeneous diffusion problems on any grids

Abstract:

The simulation of radionucleides transfers in the soils, or that of oil recovery for example, involve the computation of flows into heterogeneous and anisotropic porous media.

We present some new schemes, which present the following characteristics:

- they hold in the case of any grid, including nonconforming ones, refined ones, and apply on general quadrangular (2D) or hexahedric (3D) grid blocks,
- convergence and error estimate are available, thanks to discrete Sobolev inequalities,
- generalizations on nonlinear diffusion operators, such as the Leray-Lions one, can be easily derived,
- integration of such a scheme for Navier-Stokes approximation is natural.
